We fund
Individual artists, cultural operators, governmental organisations, institutions and cultural enterprises can all apply for funding from the Norwegian Culture Fund.
Arts Council Norway provides funds for a wide range of measures and activities within the field of art, culture and cultural heritage. The funds concentrate on measures that fall outside the mainstream support locally or centrally. Arts Council Norway places emphasis on whether a measure may have value for other parts of the country, and is interested in getting information about new ideas and drafts for projects within the Council's responsibilities. If measures are not mentioned on these pages, it will not necessarily mean that they are not eligible for the Culture Fund.
Special grants/funding schemes
Arts Council Norway provides funding in the form of special grants and general project funding for the various disciplines. For deadlines and information on grants, please contact the specific section.
General funding for projects
General funding for projects includes all measures that fall outside the special funding schemes and for interdisciplinary projects. Priority may be given to special themes and issues. See the different fields of activity for more information. Such priorities will usually be in line with the main goals of Arts Council's strategy. See statistics for information on the development of the Cultural Fund.
Other purposes
In addition to the Council's regular funding schemes and general funding for projects, special funds are set aside under the budget heading "other purposes". From this budget it is possible to apply for funding of projects that fall outside the responsibility of any specific genre related professional committee or is interdisciplinary. Large innovative projects and one-off-measures are given priority.
General criteria for funding
A number of factors and criteria are gathered as a basis for the allocation of project support from the Culture Fund:
- the project's artistic profile
- the cultural activity's relevance to the focus areas
- the degree of innovation
- regional distribution
- operational capacity
